I Got 99 Problems But A Diet Ain't One.

I take a hard anti-diet approach. Yes - I recognize that restricting calories usually results in weight loss. The problem is that studies show that 99% of dieters gain back the weight they lose, and often more. Holla back if you hear me!

I practice holistic health coaching because I believe good health should be 3 things: simple, accessible, and fun.

Unfortunately, health has become completely, overwhelmingly, the opposite of those three things. For every best selling diet book, there’s another best selling diet book to the contrary- how's a girl supposed to know what to do? The idea that good health has to be so complicated seriously weirds me out, because I know first-hand hand that's simply not true.

When it comes to losing weight and getting healthy, there’s one common flaw that has been the downfall for almost anyone who has tried every diet under the sun, yet still feels just as desperate as the day they started: we've been taught to address the symptom (weight gain), and not the source.

*I bet your already have a pretty good idea what do to in order to be healthy: Eat well, exercise, sleep, drink water, blah blah blah. However, if you’re reading this, there’s a pretty good chance that despite your knowledge of how to be healthy, there’s still something that’s keeping you from reaching your goals. And I bet you think it's your willpower (I'll let you in on a little secret: it's not).

Ninety nine percent of the time, the obstacle keeping you from hitting your goals isn't simply what you eat. The real issue why you eat what you eat. If you're not working to fix that, I guarantee you that you'll be stuck in Diet Hell forever.

When you work with me, here's how we'll roll: We're going to take a brand new approach to your health in order to squash the symptoms by addressing the source.  Whether you’re a workaholic from New York City, a mother of 3 from the LA, or a serial dieter still searching for The One, my personalized plans will help put you on the path to success.

*although if you don’t know, you aren’t alone - I’ll help you learn!

So WTH is a Holisitic Approach to Health?

If your mind goes straight to crystals, dreamcatchers, and all sorts of hippy stuff, reel it in, sister.**  This word seems to freak people out, but the actual definition of “Holistic” is as follows:

The treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the physical symptoms of a disease.

Simply put, it means addressing health as part of a whole - looking at it through a wider lens, if you will. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, I’m not going to simply hand you a diet and exercise plan, and call it a day. If that approach actually worked, you probably wouldn’t be reading this. ***

** So it happens that I do love crystals, dreamcatchers, and hippy stuff, too – you are more than welcome to talk hippy with me! But it has nada to do with the actual definition of holisitic.

*** In fact, if that worked, our nation probably wouldn’t face the ultimate conflict:  A record-high obesity rate (1 in 3 adults) that shows no signs of slowing despite a 55 billion-dollar-a-year diet industry.

Effortless Health

Instead, we’ll take a look at what’s keeping you from your from reaching your goals. These are what I call your blocks: blocks can be anything from an impossibly busy schedule, to a lack of motivation, a perceived lack self control, shame or guilt associated with eating, not “liking” healthy food, any combination of the aforementioned, or maybe something that I didn’t even list.

My goal is to make good health feel effortless to you.  I take that back: to be clear, you may exert a little effort in the beginning as we set goals, identify your roadblocks, create a customized plan to help you break them down, and slowly replace them.  New behaviors take a touch of effort in the beginning, but with a solid strategy and gradual implementation, you're sure for find yourself with some sweet new habits that eventually become second nature. You’ll have measurable goals but also flexibility. Your plan will be completely customized to your own personal lifestyle and preferences, because the goal is for the changes to feel effortless, which is why we’re working on setting new habits. Habits don’t feel like effort once they’re created.
